Each Kindness submitted by leighsprauer on August 27, 2018, 1:34pm This beautifully illustrated picture book is a poignant reminder for children about the impact of kindness. Very unusually for a children's book, however, it shows this by its absence: the protagonist has the opportunity to show kindness to a new child at school, fails to do it, and then later regrets her cruelty. There is no happy ending - only the implied lesson of potentially learning from our failings - which makes it more complex than most children's books. Even though my kids are too old for picture books, this was such a beautiful book that I read it to them before their first day of school; it's a lesson that everyone can stand to hear again and again.
