"A collection of 120 recipes exploring the flavors of Jerusalem from the New York Times bestselling author of Plenty, one of the most lauded cookbooks of 2011. In Jerusalem, Yotam Ottolenghi re-teams with his friend (and the co-owner of his restaurants) Sami Tamimi. Together they explore the vibrant cuisine of their home city--with its diverse Muslim, Jewish, Arab, Christian, and Armenian communities. Both men were born in Jerusalem in the same year--Tamimi on the Arab east side and Ottolenghi in the Jewish west. This cookbook offers recipes from their unique cross-cultural perspectives including Charred Baby Okra with Tomato and Preserved Lemon, Braised Lamb Meatballs with Sour Cherries, and Clementine and Almond Cake. With five bustling restaurants in London and two stellar cookbooks, Ottolenghi is one of the most respected chefs in the world; Jerusalem is his most personal, original, and beautiful cookbook yet"-- Provided by publisher.

Beautiful cookbook submitted by ark on July 29, 2013, 10:45am I was excited to read this after reading Ottolenghi's "Plenty." Jerusalem doesn't disappoint. The photographs are absolutely beautiful, and the passion the authors have for the food, and its land and people, is evident. This is the kind of cookbook you can keep on your nightstand and read for the stories as well as the recipes (of which there are a great variety, including lots of vegetarian recipes).

Sami Tamimi also wrote this submitted by emaelshaikh on June 24, 2015, 5:58pm This is an excellent book, and part of what makes it excellent is that it's a collaboration between Ottolenghi and Tamimi. I feel like the way it is listed in the catalog doesn't reflect that this was truly a joint effort. Jerusalem itself is a city of many collisions and contradictions, and that such a fruitful cookbook came from that truly relies on both authors equally to represent the soul and spirit of the city's culinary life.

Fantastic Cookbook! submitted by bookher on June 18, 2019, 2:33pm I loved this cookbook! You must check this out for the spinach date salad alone. Delicious and I hate dates. Very reminiscent of spinach salad with bacon dressing though there is no bacon at all in this salad.

Reliably Delicious submitted by lisibit on June 15, 2022, 3:26pm You really can't go wrong with any of the recipes in this book. And if you eat with your eyes, the photography is lovely.

Beautiful submitted by kmp009 on June 22, 2023, 8:15am A great addition to the cookbook collection, and the photographs are beautiful.

Beautiful book submitted by khrobinson on July 29, 2023, 10:08am This cookbook is great to look at, and also full of wonderful recipes, and some interesting stories as well. The combination of herbs and spices throughout is rich and delicious!
