Maybe it's just me...

I have an absolutely terrible time with short story collections, so it's very hard for me to figure out how to rate or review them. I read books for the ability to get lost in the story, and short story collections are simply not made for this.

How do I rate a book of things that I may like some and not like others?!?

Plus I'm always trying to figure out why all *these* together. It always feels like there should be a theme, but maybe there is and maybe there isn't. Anyway, it seemed like the theme for this book might be "the world isn't actually the way you think it is." Most of the stories had some unexpected twist or change in understanding or pivot at the end.

But in the end, I just really didn't enjoy the stories that much. I found myself mentally checking them off as "I'm closer to the end" rather than enjoying reading the book.

But maybe that's just me and short stories.
