COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Some nice bang for your buck submitted by Peter Kooger on July 10, 2012, 9:20am Haywire seemed like a pretty standard black-ops film, complete with a convoluted plot centering around double and triple crosses. What made it enjoyable for me were the action scenes. It has long been a pet peeve of mine that in most Hollywood fight scenes, the sound of somebody getting kicked or punched is loud enough to make you believe that the people fighting are made of hollow iron bars. I wouldn't say the fight scenes in Haywire are hyper-realistic, but at least a punch sounds like a punch, not like a sack of hamburgers getting smacked with a bat. And the action sure is fun to watch.
Disappointing submitted by eroussey on August 2, 2012, 8:13pm Considering this movie's cast and genre, it shouldn't have been hard to make a good action/adventure movie, but they didn't. The movie starts in the middle of the story, so it was difficult to figure out what was going on from the outset. Dialogue took second place to fight scenes, so it's still not clear to me why certain plot twists occurred. I did not connect with any of the characters, including the main character, and it took quite some time before they explained what it was that went "Haywire." The background music was not good, the characters paper thin, and the plot was less than riveting. It you just want to watch people fighting, then this is your movie.
Very flat submitted by mandevil on September 21, 2020, 3:01pm I wanted to like it. Lots of A rated stars but everyone seems to have phoned it in. Not interesting. A better film for this type of action with a female lead is Anna. With Helen Mirren.
