This is what D&D is all about.

This comic is one of the best representations of the world of D&D that I have ever seen. Ignore the subpar movies and go straight to this. The story of the ragtag team of Fell's Five and the perils they endure is classic Dungeons and Dragons.
I've successfully used this to introduce friends to the world of the game, and everyone I know has loved it. Clearly John Rogers knows how to write a great ensemble story, as he also co-created the wonderful TV show Leverage.
