Fictitiously attributed to Richard Castle, a character on the ABC television show, Castle.
"In the third book of the New York Times bestselling Nikki Heat series, following HEAT WAVE and NAKED HEAT, Richard Castle's new thrilling mystery continues the story of NYPD Homicide Detective, Nikki Heat. Tough, sexy, professional, Nikki Heat carries a passion for justice as she leads one of New York City's top homicide squads. In what's sure to be another smash sensation by blockbuster author Richard Castle, readers will once again follow Nikki Heat and hotshot reporter Jameson Rook as they trade barbs and innuendos all while on the trail of a murderer! For the third tie-in with the ABC television show, CASTLE, we will once again be releasing a portion of the chapters electronically, available for digital download in advance of the hardcover publication. The show will integrate the new book in the same way they did for HEAT WAVE and NAKED HEAT, with mentions of the book beginning in episodes that will air in spring and culminating with the publication of the book in Fall 2011"-- Provided by publisher.

Castle fans...this is for you! submitted by cherylo on June 18, 2012, 9:44pm The third in a series of books whose main character, Nikki Heat, is supposedly inspired by the character Kate Becket with whom Castle works on the TV series Castle. If you're not a fan, I'm not sure why you would seek out this fictitiously-attributed novel. On the other hand, I strongly recommend the TV series. Go watch that, and come back when you are ready. I can wait. .... Fans of the series may well enjoy this extended experience of the world of the show. It was a nice piece of entertainment, and reads largely like an extended episode of the show, except the names are changed, and certain of the circumstances. For example, in the novels, 'Rook' and 'Heat' have a more than platonic relationship, but in the TV series, the relationship between Castle and Beckett is more tension than actual. So far ;-) Solidly plotted and written. Much more like a full novel than the first book, Heat Wave (http://www.aadl.org/catalog/record/1346524).
