UK Rock Will Dominate submitted by Caser on September 28, 2011, 10:01am Prediction: this decade (the '10s?) in rock is setting itself up to be dominated by UK bands. Not since coffee shop kids were sparring over Blur vs. Oasis in the early '90s has there been as much solid rock music pumping out of the island across the pond. And though there are less than a handful of acts that have broken through to the larger audiences the way Coldplay has, bands like The Horrors, Kasabian, The Vaccines, and Glasvegas are making what can unmistakably be called rock music, a genre that has been somewhat stagnant over the last 5-10 years, with more bands crossing psychedelia and experimental with rock to try and give it back its edge.

The Vaccines are not necessarily the best among UK bands, but their ability to take a riff that cuts and buzzes fiercely and lay a Gang of Four, straight ahead beat over it, and then add droning, warped out, but still catchy melodic lines over it means that they've taken the torch from The Strokes, and doing it better than Casablancas et al are at the moment.

It's an instantly familiar record that probably won't last past six months, likely because The Vaccines' DNA is worn so clearly on their sleeve, but at the moment they're unmatched in terms of putting together an entire record of interesting, catchy rock cuts.

Can't stop singing submitted by adimarzo on June 15, 2013, 10:16pm I recently discovered this album (and this band) and it has become my go-to happy music. The tunes are really catchy and the band has a great throw back sound that reminds me of a mix of punk and 60s rockabilly. Wetsuit is one of my favorite songs, I just can't stop singing it.

Unimpressive submitted by semartin on August 22, 2014, 9:01pm After reading the reviews I was excited to give this a listen, but I found it largely bland. I feel like there are much better UK bands to check out: The Fratellis and the Kaiser Chiefs, for example. I might give them another chance if I come across them again, but I won't be seeking their future work.
