Follows the adventures of Malcolm, the middle brother in an eccentric middle class family. In Francis escapes, Francis runs away from military school and sneaks back home to romance his girlfriend, who turns out to be a shoplifter. In Krelboyne picnic, the whole family attends the Krelboyne picnic, but Malcolm is not looking forward to participating in the "Academic Circus." In Lois vs. evil, the family is poverty-stricken after Lois gets fired. Meanwhile, Francis loves his new honor-guard assignment at a beauty pageant. In Stock car races, Hall secretly takes the boys to the stock car races, while Lois desperately searches for her missing paycheck. In Funeral, Malcolm tries to talk the family out of going to Aunt Helen's funeral so he can go on his first date instead. In Cheerleader, Malcolm helps Reese become a male cheerleader to attract a girl, while Francis has a heart-to-heart with headmaster Spangler.
