Funny submitted by 0liviap0pp on August 5, 2011, 5:24pm This is the book that the famous Muppet-Sherlock Holmes quote "Elementary, my dear Fozzie" comes from. I love the Muppets!!!

Muppet Sherlock Holmes - graphic novel submitted by Fevvers - STAR473 on July 31, 2016, 3:14am Enjoyable, but a bit messy. I didn't mind how it played fast and loose with the Holmes canon - in fact, it had a lot of great details true or analogous to the original stories - but I was distracted by internal inconsistencies and loose plot threads. I really didn't mind the idea of Lestrade solving the actual mysteries while Sherlock was off-track, but then it bounced back to Sherlock as the cleverest one.

It is really quite a lot of material, adapting several Sherlock Holmes stories. Worth picking up for any Muppet mega-fans and/or those desiring just about anything Sherlock Holmes-themed. As both, I found it particularly wryly funny to see caffeine substituted for the more destructive substances of choice of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Holmes.

Elementary Fozzie submitted by Adam Graham on August 3, 2019, 12:12am They did, as another reviewer put it, "play fast and loose with the Holmes canon" - but still a very fun and sweet read.

The Muppets at Their Best submitted by Meginator on August 31, 2019, 9:47pm This collection of comics delightfully encapsulates the Muppets’ zany, self-aware comedic style and applies it to the classic Sherlock Holmes canon. The script never veers too far away from the central plot, making the humor a complement to the story rather than a distracting annoyance, and each of the individual stories works as a standalone piece and as part of the book’s all-encompassing narrative arc. I wasn’t initially sold on the casting of Gonzo as London’s greatest detective, but he totally works in the role, freeing up Kermit to act as a straight-man Lestrade, which itself befits his own long-standing characterization; other characters are aptly cast in a variety of supporting roles, from Fozzie’s hapless, wise-cracking Watson to Miss Piggy’s scheming Irene Adler. I notice an absence of cameos from characters such as the Swedish Chef and Statler and Waldorf, but I did appreciate that the creators didn’t sacrifice the book’s internal integrity for cheap thrills that may not have suited their work. Overall, this book does justice to the Muppets’ long legacy, applying their signature humor to a well-known intellectual property and making it all their own in the process. In my opinion, this comic is on a par with the Muppets’ great theatrical literary ventures.
