COMMUNITY REVIEWS

choppy submitted by kathscot on August 7, 2014, 8:46am Odd plot. Mostly strings of vaudeville routines. Only one segment with Shirley Temple, but this is the movie that propelled her to stardom (led to a contract).

Good submitted by pvogiatz on July 29, 2015, 8:26pm This film is best known for providing the first big breakthrough role for legendary child actress Shirley Temple. As a parent I found it acceptable, still good to watch but my youngest daughter said that it's BEAUTIFUL!

Horrible submitted by rekha on August 13, 2015, 7:00pm Barely any storyline. Mostly a string of song and dance routines, most of which were too long. Shirely Temple is in this movie for about five minutes. Only one very short song and dance routine with her in it. I can see how this movie propelled her to stardom. She was adorable. However, the movie as a whole, is terrible. Don't waste your time.

Three cheers for Aunt Jemima! submitted by willow on August 12, 2016, 3:58pm This is the movie that kick started Shirley Temple's career, and it has been heavily edited to remove the most outrageous of the now-offensive scenes, but Tess Gardella is still there, playing her standard blackface role of "Aunt Jemima," and Stepin Fetchit (the first black millionaire).

Ok, but where's Shirley? submitted by cbrewster on July 22, 2018, 9:35pm You may think, like I did that this movie stars Shirley Temple. However, we watched the whole movie, only to see Shirley for about five minutes.
