Great movie! submitted by lilveela on July 6, 2011, 7:01am A.I. is one of those movies that make you cry every time you watch it (at least for me). The plot is great and Haley Joel Osment does a such a great job portraying the robot trying to learn/have the human emotion. I definitely recommend!

Great sci-fi

I wanted to revisit this after watching After Yang and the s4 Westworld premiere. I thought this held up on the rewatch and actually flies by for a 2.5 hour movie. A touching, epic, sci-fi fairy tale that blends other Kubrick and Spielberg properties with Pinocchio. Haley Joel Osment does a great job in the lead role, bringing creepiness, longing and sorrow.
This doesn't feel like a Spielberg movie. It's ominous in a way that's different than Schindler's List (due for a revisit on that too) and Jurassic Park/Jaws. The effects are creepy but enhance the effectiveness of this. It's very unsettling to see the twin towers in post-apocalyptic, flooded NYC
Lots of interesting themes about the nature of reality, nostalgia, dreams, god-like characters, the color blue. I like how Pinocchio is featured in a movie so based in the Pinocchio. Sprawling cast and pretty good score. The Jude Law character still didn't really click for me, but I don't mind his performance.
