80s splatter classic submitted by irenzero on August 25, 2011, 12:42pm 80s splatter flicks were all about the special effects and Reanimator is one of the classics of the movement. It's got over the top gross out moments and set pieces. What isn't talked about all that much is that it's a darkly comic film with maybe more laughs than scares. Reanimator was famously referenced in the film American Beauty.

Cheesy classic submitted by Annimatronic on July 23, 2012, 4:56pm I love this movie. Jeffrey Combs makes it for me. There's definitely a dark comedy undertone, more so than the book. Sure, the effects are dated, but it adds to that comic tone.

Cult Classic for a Reason submitted by arguzman on June 17, 2014, 3:57pm This film is in my top 5 favorites of all time. If you're a fan of fun tongue-in-cheek horror flicks then this is your movie. The actors are giving their all and clearly enjoying themselves. Jeffrey Combs gives life (pun intended) to the creepy Herbert West in a role that propelled him to success as a noted character and genre actor. Some of my favorite aspects of this movie include the excellent practical effects (as well as the not-so-excellent, such as the dead cat!), the sheer volume of blood on screen, and the iconic glowing green serum. It's a lot of fun, so check it out!

Poorly acted, poorly written and nonsensical at the end submitted by Will O on August 25, 2020, 7:52pm Was going to give this three stars until the last 25 minutes where it just went completely off the rails in terms of any sort of logic as far as headless bodies still being able to receive messages from the head or how the mind controll bit worked.
Overall the storytelling was not great and the acting was amateurish at best and pretty terrible on average.
There was also an awful sexual assault thrown in.
Not for me, not sure who it's for exactly.
