Insightful and Compelling

This memoir includes descriptions of so many places in Michigan that I've visited or driven by and wondered about. There's a lot of great natural (and cultural!) history in it, and some nice self-reflection that doesn't descend into self-absorption. The writing is straightforward - nothing that struck me as really beautiful or elegant - but solid. I would give it 4.5 stars on if we could do half stars. Maybe 5 stars, because I keep thinking about it and telling everyone about it.
Great concept submitted by pamhockey25 on August 14, 2021, 12:04pm A 45-year-old housewife, mother of two teen boys decides to walk around Lake Michigan. She starts in Chicago, and does the walk in segments. It's not just one hike around the lake but several trips where she backpacks, sleeps in motels, hammocks, and yet goes back home to recover and then start again. It's interesting how she planned her trip, and it might even be fun to do some of the segments...I found the book interesting and would recommend.
