Sam's dad submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on June 14, 2014, 1:34pm Detective Sam Tyler was hit by a car in 2006 and woke up in 1973. He now works in the local police department solving murders.
The show really demonstrates many of the huge changes, socially and technologically (not the mention the clothes and hair!) in the 40 years since then.

*Spoiler Alert*

In this series (meaning season) finale, Sam meets his dad. In his life before the car accident, Sam hardly knew his father, who had left the family when Sam was four. Sam had idealized the man (played by Lee Ingleby of "Inspector George Gently" fame) he hardly knew, but now learns an ugly truth his mother never told him. Sam must decide where his loyalty lies and what he is willing to sacrifice.
