Sex and the Desert submitted by awooden on August 2, 2011, 6:50pm This film fell very short of the Sex and the City mark for me. The allure of Sex and the City is the intersection of the series' big three: love, the big apple, and friendship. From the first ten minutes of the film's grand opening, I felt that the emphasis was on glamour, gloss, and cameos. Though I will say that Liza Minnelli's stirring rendition of "Single Ladies" is worth the time of checking out the film. That being said, the film felt sloppily put together and by the time I, as an audience member, was whisked away to Abu Dhabi I was merely a bystander, transfixed by the train wreck about to unfold before me. But, that is just my opinion. I guess I was spoiled by the HBO series and perhaps my expectations for the second film ran away from me. It seems as if the Sex and the City franchise has not yet figured out the storyline of Carrie Bradshaw, married woman, in New York City.
