meandering, marvelous submitted by bec on June 16, 2020, 7:29am This is a meandering exploration of Frazier's decades-long fascination with Russia, and encompasses a series of trips to Siberia over a time of major change at the end of the 20th century/beginning of this one. Frazier has a lively sense of humor and a real sense for the almost magically absurd, which I found a joy to read. He can't help but repeatedly comment on the beautiful women of each city, which I found less charming. I really enjoyed this book, though, for its interweaving of evocative history with living place and people.
