Zany Magic submitted by MariaK on December 24, 2010, 3:29pm Ingrid Law has created a fun little world for her characters to grow up in -- like "Holes" meets "The Wall and The Wing," with a dash of "A Year Down Yonder" thrown in for good measure. The focus of this book isn't really the zany and chaotic magic that Ledger and his family share, but how Ledger learns to grow up and help those around him reconcile their differences. His 'savvy' and how he learns to use it is almost a metaphor for how everyone else around him grows and changes as the book progresses (you'll understand what I mean when you read it!). The author has a great way with words -- this book is fun to read, if maybe just the slightest bit didactic at times. All in all, a fun, magical coming-of-age tale.

Character made the book not as good as Savvy submitted by AlexanderIJ on August 23, 2014, 10:24pm I don't like books with annoying characters, and this had one. So I liked Savvy better. But the story was good, it was just the character that made the book not as fun for me.

Savvy: What's next? submitted by tappangirl on June 17, 2017, 5:19pm Scumble is an amazing companion to Ingrid Law's first book, Savvy. While Savvy was all about getting one, Scumble was about leaning to control his Savvy. It was about listening to himself, and along the way, he learned that you don't always have to listen to people, especially when you think that they're wrong. Self-confidence is what this book is full of, and I think every single kid should read this book/series.

Scumble submitted by maria.wyche on August 6, 2020, 2:50pm This was a great story that takes you back to the world of Savvy. Ingrid Law has an amazing ability to create quirky and unique characters that really bring the story to life. The storyline of this book is all about a boy who spends a lot of time trying to fix all the things he breaks with his savvy. When he spills a family secret to a future reporter he has yet another thing to fix as he tries to scumble his savvy. This is a great book about a boy discovering who he is and how to control himself and his savvy.

Great sequal submitted by T R W on August 2, 2021, 10:09am I admit I liked Savvy better, but this totally fulfilled my expectations and especially of late has really grown on me! It's a book with a core lesson of believe in yourself and don't run from yourself, but it's also so full of fantasy, suspense, and humor. An excellent continuation of the series!
