Mini Becky Bloomwood submitted by summertime678 on June 20, 2011, 8:23am Great spinoff to the original series, very creative

It's Getting Old submitted by Lia Rose on June 21, 2011, 11:04am I am an equal opportunity reader. From historical fiction, to chic lit, to science fiction, romance, memoirs, and biographies, I like them all. I am a firm believer that there is a time and place for every genre, including "beach reads". As far as lighthearted novels go, Sophie Kinsella's first installment in the Shopaholic serious was a fun quick read. Unfortunately, the main character has failed to progress with each successive book. This latest edition was ruined by distractingly improbable character motives and a plot driven by tedious schemes and heavy with gimmicks . The shopaholic herself, Rebecca Brandon, is now both a mother and a wife. I was expecting her advancing years and increased responsibility to add a bit more depth and maturity. With the unifying word in the series titles being "Shopaholic" her spending habits came as no surprise. Had her shopping addiction been set against the backdrop of believable parenting and marital communication the book would have been far more balanced and enjoyable. As it stands, Mini Shopaholic is an over the top unrealistic account of a woman who refuses to grow or change on any level.

Lovely submitted by fka83111 on August 2, 2011, 8:58pm Love the author

Good, but not as good as the earlier books submitted by collemc on June 21, 2013, 3:40pm I found this book enjoyable, but not as enjoyable as the earlier books in the series. I agree that the character doesn't mature between books, but that is to be expected. Would have enjoyed a more original twist at the end.
