Wonderful Science and Poetry
submitted by sdunav on July 15, 2011, 11:49am
This is an absolutely beautiful coupling of science and poetry. It's not too juvenile for my 14 year old son (or me!), but it is wonderfully accessible for my 9 year old daughter. It would be wonderful as a read-to-your-kids book, too.
Geckos, bacteria, beetles, coyotes, dandelions, ants, squirrels - they're ubiquitous. Why? Check it out for your kids, and you'll learn something too.
This is one of the few kids' hardcover books that I don't mind paying a lot for, because I want it on my bookshelves forever. I just wish it was longer. I hope Sidman and Prange keep collaborating for a long, long time.
Fantastic submitted by jtmaxwell on August 16, 2011, 6:34pm One of my favorite parts of this book is the attention to detail - the liner pages are the most amazing time line. This is a great non-fiction read that showcases the lesser thought-about aspects of nature. Definitely worth a read!!
