Highly Recommended submitted by ljq on July 9, 2011, 12:13pm This book is set around the book clubs third year in existence and the girls' eighth grade year at Walden Middle School. In honor of Jess going to the exclusive Colonial Academy due to a mysterious benefactor, the girls decide to read Daddy Long Legs, another book about a girl who goes to school thanks to her own mysterious benefactor. As usual, Heather Vogel Frederick ties in the story of Daddy Long Legs into her own story with Jess following the main character of Daddy Long Legs, Jerusha's, footsteps. It's a year of change for the girls again as Cassidy's family expands with a new addition, Megan's grandmother coming from Hong Kong to spend time with her family and rocking the Wong Family's world upside down and Emma dealing with issues that her pen might be able to solve. The subject of a first kiss comes up a lot in this book and it comes to the most unexpected person by surprise.

This year, the girls have pen pals with another book club in Gopher Hole, Wyoming. They are matched up according to their interests and most of them get along. Finally, at the end of the year, the girls get to meet their pen pals in Wyoming. Also, in this book, Emma's relationship with Mrs. Bergson evolves into a grandmother-granddaughter relationship and Mrs. Bergson joins the book club. Jess, meanwhile, is having a tough time dealing with her mean, mean, mean roommate Savannah Sinclair and hiding a puppy that she means to give to Emma as a present.

Overall, this book is fantastic and highly recommended. It's not junk and it definitely introduces you to many old classics that girls this age wouldn't necessarily read.

boring submitted by shalinigurl on July 12, 2011, 11:26am It is a boring book not a recommended for sure!

nice submitted by alumeng.ajl on August 14, 2011, 12:07pm i liked it. I like the 4th book better, but still really good

Dear Pen Pal submitted by leehannah on June 16, 2012, 8:36am This book was really interesting, because of the fact that it had to do with pen pals. I have never had a pen pal before so this book made me want to find someone to be my pen pal. This book is the second book of "The Mother-Daughter Book Club" series. I really enjoyed this series and I recommend it for those who are grades: 4-8

great submitted by jangmikyoung on June 17, 2012, 10:47pm This bok was not the best but I guess it was okay

Ok submitted by bluepapaya on June 21, 2013, 2:54pm The plot is fairly simple , but sweet. It's good for ages 10-13.

One of my favorite books submitted by Justin Shim on August 19, 2014, 8:59am I've read the entire series, and I think the best part is that I can compare to Heather's characters. The book is'nt the best in this series, but it's still nice.
This year Megan's grandma, Gigi, comes to live with the Wongs, while Jess struggles with " Julia Pendelton" at boarding school. And Emma who wants to have a dog, might get a surprise...
All on top of that the girls end up having tho write to their new pen pals "friends". But they might have more in common with them, them then they think.

Great! submitted by bookworms on August 31, 2016, 8:07pm This book is about the Mother Daughter book club's adventures throughout 8th grade. Together Emma, Cassidy, Becca, Jess, and Megan face first kisses, changing families, mean roommates, and boarding school (which Jess is now attending). Great book for 5th and 6th ( and maybe 7th?) grade girls!

Wonderful submitted by mkwhybark on July 12, 2017, 2:02pm I think all middle schoolers who love reading should read this series.
