Good submitted by Morgsush on July 25, 2011, 9:00pm This is a pretty good book.

Can a book simultaneously be a page-turner but also not written that well? submitted by sushai on June 23, 2020, 12:18pm
Apparently, yes. I really did get pulled in by the story about a virus decimating the world. chosen purposely to read during the COVID-19 outbreak. Eerie how many things paralleled what's really going on in the world. But I was disappointed in the end by the lack of believable characters and of how little we get to know them. What's up with the husband, BTW? He seems like a caricature and his subplot is never explained. Also, did no editor miss the scene of the boy drinking too much pop and throwing up being in the book twice, about 20 pages apart?
I read in the interview at the end that the author prefers poetry over fiction and that is why her stories are not character-driven. Unfortunate, because most of the characters here felt hollow or contrived to me.
