A little worse for the wear submitted by brady.emmett on July 18, 2011, 2:17pm Orson Scott Card knows how to write a good book. Sometimes, he doesn't give a book everything though. The Empire series is a well concieved series, but I think he is taking a breather. The action is interesting but not that great. The situations are feasible but not terribly believable. Oh well, you can't write Ender's Game every time.

Wow--OSC has swung SO far to the political right. submitted by hathaway1066 on August 11, 2014, 3:48pm I love a good yarn and don't mind a protagonist with somewhat different views than my own, but in a way that reminds me of Heinlein's staged/forced conversations that serve to 'prove' the main character's wise, insightful views as such--so in this, Card is now marching his characters through dialogue and situations in order to support and expound Card's very far right wing views. Might be fun to read if you share those views (global warming is a bunch of hooey, eco-terrorists stand for/represent environmentalism, etc.) but for me, no thanks.

Card, you had a good run, but hang it up man, your old-age bitterness is showing through.
