delightful submitted by camelsamba on August 3, 2011, 11:15am My 6yo was laughing out loud at this book, especially the toothbrush snow. I think he really wanted to see sock snow - but alas, it was not to be. (Oops, is that a spoiler? Sorry.) We talked about the drawing style (it seems to get progressively sophisticated through the book), and the interactions between the animals, and what was happening on the wordless pages. I had read it once before we read it together, and I must say that his delight improved my outlook on the book. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm glad to have experienced it with the aid of younger eyes.

What is snow? submitted by FordAlpha on August 25, 2019, 9:56pm In this charming but sometimes head-scratching story translated from German, a young squirrel who hasn't yet experienced snow is eager to find out what it's like. Unfortunately, the description he's working from leaves a lot of room for error. Squirrel and his friends find a lot of things that fit the description in one or more ways before the real snow finally begins to fall, transcending their expectations. The artwork is varied; some pages seem more carefully composed and polished than others. At its best, it's quite lovely.
