As battle-scarred Jamie Fraser and his twentieth-century time-travelling wife Claire Randall flee from North Carolina to the high seas during the American Revolution, they encounter privateers and ocean battles. Meanwhile in the relative safety of the 20th century Brianna (Claire and Jamie's daughter) and Roger MacKenzie, Brianna's husband, search for clues not only to Claire's fate--but to their own fate in the Highlands.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Weakest one of the series submitted by Cloverdale on July 25, 2014, 7:11pm Though still jammed with adventure, I think this one is too scattered. Still fun with a big cliff hanger.

Multiple Narratives submitted by OrngJo on May 14, 2015, 2:23pm A fun read that maintains the series. I found the multiple narratives distracting at times, but they were also a necessary literary device based upon the plot. I just find myself more interested in certain stories so I almost get annoyed by the other plots.

And I still keep reading submitted by dree411 on August 31, 2019, 12:18pm I still love this continuing story, and have read it multiple times. It has been 10 years since this book was released... still anxious for the next book. Waiting to see what they do with the tv interpretation. While the tv interpretation for the earlier books has been pretty good, I enjoy the books so much more.
