Back in the late '80s, Randy 'The Ram' Robinson was a headlining professional wrestler. Now, decades past his prime, he barely gets by working small wrestling shows in VFW halls and as a part-time grocery store employee. He faces health problems that may end his wrestling career and is attempting to come to terms with his life outside the ring. He wants to reconcile with the daughter he abandoned in childhood and begins a relationship with a stripper. He struggles with his new life and an offer of a high-profile rematch with his 1980s arch-nemesis, 'The Ayatollah,' which might just be his ticket back to stardom.
Blu-ray disc, widescreen (2.35:1); Dolby DTS-HD Master 5.1 surround, Dolby Digital 5.1 surround.
This Blu-ray disc will not play in standard DVD players.

Awesome submitted by mysterio on August 15, 2011, 4:12pm Awesome

The Role of Mickey Rourke's Life submitted by shira.pilarski on July 19, 2020, 9:26pm This is pretty well-worn territory in sports movies: the aging star whose body is failing him and might be sacrificing everything if he continues down this path. But still, somehow, this film feels fresh. It could be that we hadn't gotten a starring Mickey Rourke role in decades. Or maybe it's that the film is a metaphor for Rourke's own career -- hugely popular in the 80s, then struggling after he destroyed his classic good looks through boxing. Performances by Rourke, Tomei, and Wood are all top notch, and I'm still surprised Rourke lost the Oscar for Best Picture to Sean Penn's Milk. It doesn't hurt that this film is set in New Jersey, a wholly underrated state.

surprisingly good submitted by manz on July 29, 2020, 10:09am This was an oddly engaging film. You really feel for Ram and his troubles. I didn't want it to end! I wanted to see what happened next.
