Taught by Professor Timothy Taylor, Macalester College.
The global economy has become more interconnected than ever before. This course begins with an overview of the development of the global economy since 1950, including the rise of globalization and the diminishing relative importance of the U.S. economy. The main body of the course is divided into two broad sections: first, a tour of the global economy one region or country at a time, then lectures on a number of global economic issues. The focus is primarily on the last few decades, although some lectures will dip back to the 1950s or even earlier and other lectures will consider projections well into the 21st century.
