In a world where some people are born with extreme and often-feared skills called Graces, Katsa struggles for redemption from her own horrifying Grace, the Grace of killing, and teams up with another young fighter to save their land from a corrupt king.
All in all, this is a pretty solid debut novel for an author. The ending feels a bit rushed and unfinished, but that might have been the intention. Looking forward to reading what else Cashore puts out there. Worth a read if you enjoy young adult fantasy, especially female-centric young adult fantasy.
Excellent adventure tale. Katsa is a "graced" with the talent to kill but is manipulated by uncle to use he skill as he wishes... Yet through the book we see Katsa develop into a thoughtful and strong heroine. Well written, the author draws you into the intrigue and mystical world...
This is a wonderful start to a wonderful trio. Cashore skillfully wove together action and emotion, romance and mystery in this stunning novel. Graceling is gripping. I couldn't put it down for a moment.
Wonderfully original! I read also Fire and hopefully I'll have to to read Bitterblue soon.
A great novel about a young heroine and how those in power often try to take advantage of those with special skills. If there's a sequel, I will definitely read.
This is an amazing book! There's a lot of action and adventure in it. There's some romance too.
This book was good. One thing that I disliked was that the climax seemed anti-climatic. I won't describe what was wrong with it, because that would be impossible without spoiling it. I'm still planning on reading the rest of the trilogy, though.
This book was a great read. I love that the action never stopped. It kept me extremely engaged and I went on to read Kristin Cashore's next novel, Fire
This book is awesome. I love it.
Katsa has a green eye and a blue eye. She was born with the grace of killing. Po has a gold eye and a silver eye. He was born with the grace of mind reading. Together, they go on an adventure to stop an evil king from taking over.
Katsa can kill just about anyone with ease. And her uncle the king thinks he can get away with anything with her at his side. If she'll stay that way...
This book is very exciting and entertaining and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's also nice to see a childfree-by-choice heroine once an a while.
This book is incredible! It's a book for everything and everyone! It's full of so many rare subjects that startle and mesmerize you with magnificent entrancement. You are not going to be able to put this book down. And when you finish it, you will sigh, stroke the cover, and pray to god there will be another!
