In a near future. Detroit has slowly become the center of criminal activity when a gang who likes to kill cops goes on the rise. Omni Consomer Products eventually seizes control of local law enforcement. Just assigned to the Metro West Precint is Officer Alex Murphy. Alex is massacred by the gang, as his partner Anne Lewis is barely able to do nothing. At the same time, a young visionary executive, Bob Morton, seizes his chance when the ED-209 law enforcement droid shows multiple problems as the perfect cop. The near death Murphy is used as the subject of a new droid. With his memories erased, he is resurrected as RoboCop, the future of law enforcement. As he sweeps away crime, he eventually becomes involved with the Cop Killing Gang, and Anne Lewis herself. All of this triggers his dormant memories of his past life and he searches for who he really is. Along the way, he uncovers a conspiracy going deep in OCP.
DVD, region 1, widescreen (1.85:1) presentation; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

A strange little cult favorite submitted by cherylo on July 26, 2011, 7:07pm Interesting and strange cult classic, in the same vein as Max Headroom and the generally paranoid, bleak 80s cyberpunk ethos. RoboCop of the title is not really an android: he's a cyborg, albeit one created from a dead (or nearly dead) subject.

Violent and Funny and Smart submitted by Jan Wolter on July 8, 2013, 8:28am The combination of extreme graphic violence and extremely funny humor pretty much locks this movie into the "cult film" category. But it's also rather thoughtful about things like the meaning of humanity, corporate culture and such things. Plus it's set in Detroit and it makes the line "you're fired" amazingly funny, long before Donald Trump made it his trademark.

Classic sci-fi submitted by beeniepie on August 11, 2013, 12:19pm Classic sci-fi. Ultra-campy, and a must see.
