COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Great Movie submitted by Chris82 on July 31, 2011, 8:33pm I admit it, I love this movie. Its the first high budget monster movie made in years and this was done very well. There is lots of action, suspense and touching moments. I still hope they make a sequel to it.

Yeah, It's a Gimmick, but the Gimmick Totally Works submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 9:52am Warning: Anyone prone to motion sickness might want to skip this or bail on it early; the camera only gets less steady after the first few minutes.

Found footage gets a lot of negative press, but when it’s executed well it can be a really engaging way of telling a story; this film is an excellent example of found footage as an effective mode of storytelling. The story itself is relatively straightforward (a group of regular people go on a quest to find someone after a mysterious blast rocks Manhattan) and the characters aren’t particularly compelling, but the film provides an engrossing experience as chaos ensues and the situation grows increasingly dire. Despite pulling from a range of familiar influences, the filmmakers take the story in unexpected directions, gradually ratcheting up the suspense as the film barrels toward its surprising conclusion. There’s much more to Cloverfield than its gimmick, and I highly recommend it for thriller and horror fans, or anyone interested in watching something innovative and different from the usual (though, again, prepare for some disorientation).

Rip of submitted by Gamera on August 18, 2023, 8:25am Just another rip of of Godzilla.
