Bill Tancer (the author) is the manager of Hitwise an online market research company.
The book shows how by careful analysis of our online searching interesting discoveries can be made regarding our society and what we search for. The truth lies in the data. Telephone or online surveys don’t always reveal the truth but search data doesn’t lie. We search for what we want and with access to these searches, a lot can be learned. The data shows new trends and interests.
This book is important for marketing professionals. They must study the data of online searches so as to prepare themselves for new customers needs. By checking the data for searches on their products, they can discover whether their advertising campaign was successful or not. Are there more searches for their product or for the competition’s. When do people search for certain things? During which seasons? This must be taken into account in order to market correctly.
The book will interest marketers, psychologists, sociologists and anyone interested in online searching.
