At the reading of their grandmother's will, Dan and Amy Cahill are given the choice of receiving a million dollars or uncovering the 39 clues hidden around the world that will lead to the source of the family's power, but by taking on the clues, they end up in a dangerous race against their own family members.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Lazy Bones submitted by Caser on May 19, 2010, 8:29am Much like Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, this book is a fast-paced, action-driven, far-fetched tale where the characters take a back seat to the roller coaster plot twists. Don't expect thought provoking young adult literature here, for though the vocabulary and some thematic elements here are definitely geared toward the upper elementary crowd, the primary purpose of this series is to turn pages and crank out the next clues. Some will find the series' premise of seeking clues that will reveal the Cahill family secret rather than taking $2 million in cash so absurd that it doesn't effectively serve as motivation for the characters to risk their young lives, but clearly Riordan believes those readers to be in the microscopic minority.

awsome submitted by aittaleb on July 10, 2013, 11:38am AWESOME

Awesome submitted by lilaryan on May 7, 2014, 6:27am I think 39 clues is a big hit. If your a person that like mysteries and breath taking moments you'd love the rest of the series. The Maze Of Bones was a great beginning because in the first chapter it tells why there all at the funeral * hint hint*. This book is scary, funny, and scary again! Especially the fire. I think Nellie can be funny but scary sometimes, I means she's always freaking out or listening to her I-pod and screaming, and in a book 4 'Beyond The Grave' she says " whatever freaks me out most you do." Amy is a little bossy to Dan but sometimes she can be a sweetheart. I think Grace was special to her an Dan so since she'd died Amy has every right to be a bit bossy because she's sad. Dan on the other hand is FUNNY FUNNY FUNNY but can be a bit bossy like his sister. The Hotls are just plain mean. I mean the twins dangling Dan upside down just because they can is plain mean. Irina Spasky can be nice and mean. Ian Kabra is handsome but spoiled like his sister Natalie Kabra. Isabell Kabra (Ian and Natalie's mom) is stuck up but is also a
sophisticated Lucian. Vikram Kabra I don't know much about but he's Natalie and Ian's dad. My favorite characters are a tie between Amy amd Saladin (Graces adorable Egyption Mou a cat) Great book read the others like I am doing

MYSTERIOUS submitted by soulfulfiona on June 14, 2014, 7:39am great book with a mysterious plot that is sure to hook you on the first page as a brother and sister piece together the 39 clues that will someday make them victorious?

Reletives contest submitted by Jessica Primus on March 28, 2017, 7:02pm I am half way through this book and I LOVE it. It is very funny how many traps, bombs, and triggers their relatives can sneak through security. I think this book is mystery after mystery and highly recommend it.

LOVE IT submitted by fluttershy 2006 on August 13, 2017, 10:38am this book is filled with adventure mysteries and fun

Great book submitted by titanic524 on July 12, 2018, 11:52am This is the first book of the series and is an exciting start. I really recommend you read the series.

Good start to a series submitted by Xris on August 12, 2020, 3:05pm I tried to read this book a while ago, but didn't get into it. Now that it was due to the library soon, I tried again. Much better this time. I enjoy the puzzles in the book, and the skills that the different people bring to the table. I hope Nellie stays with them throughout the series, now that she knows what's going on. But it might be a little while until I can finish a series of 39 books...
