The +Anima are beings who possess animal-like powers. In this alternate universe, they walk among us--shunned by society--as they search for others who have similar traits. Cooro is a crow-like boy who is on a quest to find other +Anima. When he meets Husky, a disrespectful boy with a past shrouded in mystery, he finds a kindred spirit who also possesses animal-like powers. Together, they try to gain acceptance in a world cruel to anyone or anything that is different.

Animals and Humans Combined! submitted by Dragonessa on September 14, 2009, 11:19am When a human receives animal traits they are known henceforth as +Anima. Thus is the legend of these unique people told. The story centers on Cooro, a Crow +Anima with jet black wings and an adorable personality. On his journey he meets up with Husky, a Fish +Anima who longs to find his mother and Senri, a Bear +Anima with a bloody past. The threesome then end up meeting a beautiful Bat +Anima named Nana and the group goes on a breathtaking trek to a land known as Sailandia. Their journey is told in breathtaking detail and every panel holds charm and beauty. The artwork is simply gorgeous and each character has their own unique look. The most wonderful character of all in my opinion is Senri, the Bear +Anima. He is torn between two desires...return to his people and save them from extinction, or stay hidden and keep his bloody secrets safe. What he does in the end is for you to find out! The storyline is vast and complex which is rather unheard of in a Youth-based manga. These characters are dealing with real issues such as abandonment, discovering identity, and dealing with the loss of family and friends. I am eagerly awaiting the next installments! Kudos to Natsumi Mukai for an engaging, inspiring read!

The Genes of Animals submitted by Ying Zh on June 30, 2011, 4:55pm This book is very interesting, filled with lots of action and adventure when Cooro, a crow +anima is sent to find +animas all over the world. There, he meets Husky (fish +anima), Senri (bear +anima), and Nana (bat +anima) and they all go on a thrilling adventure!

Griffon submitted by squijum on August 11, 2011, 12:46pm Cooro is kind of like Hareta in some respects. that is, he keeps going in a dumb, funny way. This is a really good book!!!!
