Coraline
submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on July 30, 2013, 4:33pm
Like all of Neil Gaiman's novels, "Coraline" is a fascinating tale of the fantasy genre. It tells the story of a bored child who, despite warnings, slips through a door to a home parallel to her own. There, her Other Mother and Other Father live. They are similar to her own parents, but pay much more attention to her and have buttons for eyes. Coraline thinks this is a great alternative to home until her safety becomes threatened.
Despite its similarity to "Through the Looking Glass" and cover art, "Coraline" actually has some really creepy parts and so I would classify it as a horror novel.
The book won several prizes, including the Hugo and Nebula awards.
I thought this was going to be a fun submitted by tbbrown76 on July 26, 2014, 10:14pm read for youngsters. It got a bit strange and creepy. I did not like the whole concept. Way too scary.
