Our favorite potty book submitted by Mom Kay on June 16, 2012, 8:30am Feeling bogged down by potty training? This book can lighten the mood for your child and you! Great full-color illustrations and some clever analogies. We liked it so much we bought it for our daughter.
Great Illustrations - Story too Abstract for Toddlers
submitted by kdekleine on July 10, 2013, 1:40pm
My toddler son thinks trains are oh so interesting (as many toddler boys do). I was excited to request and check out this library book as we are beginning the process of toilet training.
Overall, this book is not our favorite potty training book. The language in the text of the story is too abstract for a toddler to understand and connect to actual toilet training. My son does say, "Chugga, chugga, poo-poooo" every time we get to this particular page, which I will admit is cute, but he does not make the connection between that line and using the toilet. He much prefers a book called, "My Big Boy Potty," which is his first request every time he sits on his "potty seat" (and he actually made his first #2 on the potty seat while listening to "My Big Boy Potty").
The big positive about this book are the illustrations. The pictures are fabulous. They are adorable and entertaining on their own.
Overall, I give this book a 3.5 star rating. Rating things separately, I'd rate the story/text as a 2 and the illustrations as a 5.
Great Illustrations submitted by AprilCDB on November 8, 2013, 2:11pm Can't say the story is great, but my son enjoyed the pictures and the train. He liked practicing saying the animals names too.
