Timeless Appeal submitted by Meginator on August 11, 2021, 4:48pm This album is a throwback to the early days of R&B, with the blues influence immediately apparent through the exquisite, emotive vocals of Sharon Jones. The instrumental backdrops provide the rhythm, and each track sits comfortably in its own groove. Though the album draws heavily on the blues, early R&B, and soul, it doesn’t feel terribly dated, instead pulling all of those influences together into a seamless, timeless style with lasting appeal.
