We enjoyed this book very much and I would recommend it, as I would almost all of Oliver Jeffers books. However, I will say that with this particular book we ran into a unique problem… I got to sheepishly return it with several other books that all had their pages nibbled…
Fortunately Oliver Jeffers has another book, The Great Paper Caper, which among other things shows young readers that paper is made from wood fibers. So we had a good talk about how hard wood is and how sharp splinters are and about whether it seemed like something that sharp and hard even in tiny ground up pieces might not be a safe thing to put in your body. We also talked about respecting books and lots of other things, and the problem has not persisted. But there was a week…
