Here is a story, littered with poorly drawn characters awash in self absorption, that meanders through a single day: September 11, 2001, and then ends, leaving no discernible impression whatsoever. Other than that, however, the writing is mediocre. A book like this dishonors New York, and especially New York on that particular day, when people rose significantly above themselves to be of service to their fellow human beings.
