Adorable submitted by crazypockets on June 28, 2013, 1:45pm I love this story, and the pictures for this are so cute. The way this book is done, it makes me tear up because of the sad way these two came together, but the happy ending they both found.

Inpiring story about a baby hippo who is stranded from his family after a Tsunami who forms an amazing bond with a 130 year old tortoise at a zoo in Kenya. It is extremely moving how the two species take to each other and the ways they learn to communicate with each other, especially since both animals are males.
I was also moved to read in an article what an inpiration this story was to other victims of the Tsunami. It really showed them that against all odds, people (or animals) can form unique bonds that help that survive and perservere in times of tragedy.
A Mama For Owen submitted by SBNB on August 14, 2015, 9:07pm So cute. My toddler loved that it's about a hippo and a tortoise/turtle (possibly her two favorite animals right now). I want to find out more about these two now.
