These ballades, rondeaux, and virelais should be required listening for anyone studying the courtly love tradition. The Gothic Voices - the core group of 5, plus a couple guest singers - effortlessly, agilely sing through the ars nova music of Machaut and ars subtilior style of Solage.
Keep the program notes and song texts on hand as you listen.
