Great reader submitted by kremen on June 29, 2011, 12:35pm The reader for this audio book, Stephen Briggs, is fantastic! He makes the sometimes-difficult-to-understand Scottish dialect of the title characters much clearer.

my beloved diskworld submitted by ferdoble on August 11, 2011, 3:48pm To describe Terry Pratchett’s books is a difficult thing to do. The disc world series is in a word fantastic. Terry Pratchett, would seem to use the disk world, to take any theme, or know story and then twist it in his own very humorous way. These are not always laugh out loud funny (sometimes they are), bur rather the sort of funny that just sort of lifts your spirits a little bit.

I will say that in some cases there isn’t always a really strong story, sometimes its just his characters moving through one of those twisted themes. I like them all, you may want to start with the Most Von Lipwig story line (“Going Postal” and then “making money”) as at least the first one has a really great story line.

I love to pepper my reading queue with these books to keep all those books that take themselves seriously fresh and interesting.

I recommend reading them ALL.

OR listening to them. The two main narrators of Terry Pratchett’s books are Stephen Briggs & Nigel Planer and they take Terry Pratchett’s phenomenal writing to a whole new level.

Tiffany Aching rocks submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 11, 2012, 6:54pm "Wee Free Men" is the first of the Tiffany Aching novels, part of Sir Terry Pratchett's larger and much beloved Discworld series (and if you don't already love them, I highly recommend these books). Tiffany is a young teen who learns she has magical talent and meets the mischief-making Nac Mac Feegles, who are small, blue pictsies (as they call themselves, not pixies).
We meet some characters from other Discworld books, including Granny Weatherwax. Those who have read "Equal Rites" and "Wyrd Sisters" will have a better understanding of what the Discworld is in general and who the witches in particular are, and so will better appreciate "Wee Free Men." After this novel, we continue Tiffany's adventures in "A Hat Full of Sky," then "Wintersmith."
Unlike some Young Adult fantasy novels, the Tiffany Aching books feature a strong, independent teenage woman who does not fall in love or base her life's decisions on what some man thinks is best for her.

recommended submitted by unknown on August 10, 2013, 9:54pm Stephen Briggs, the narrator of this book, is so good!!!! Highly recommend.

Great listening submitted by audreyh on June 15, 2015, 2:29pm The reader for this book adds so much to an already amazing story. They managed to find the perfect person to read the Pratchett books!

BOCD FTW submitted by camelsamba on August 26, 2016, 9:21pm For a variety of reasons that I won't bore you with, I resisted Terry Pratchett books for many years. Then one day I checked out this Book on CD and started listening to it on a long car drive, and I was hooked. Actually, it took a few chapters for me to get hooked - but I was a captive audience so stuck with it. The world Pratchett has created for Tiffany Aching is so fascinating, and the reader of the series is wonderful. So if you have always wondered what all the fuss is about, start here and see if you don't fall for Tiffany, the wee free men, and Terry Pratchett himself.

So great submitted by BurntSaori on July 6, 2020, 10:54am a wonderful reading of a great book.

A Good Listen submitted by kimberlina on August 30, 2020, 10:16am Helped a long car ride be much more enjoyable. A strong young female protagonist. Some hysterical little men. A message about the worth of our elders and the passing on of wisdom. Fantasy, hard work and fun all wrapped up into one audio.
