Why I read this, I do not know. I really did like Gone, Girl. I hated Dark Places. Dislike this one for similar reasons. I immediately sensed a "Flowers in the Attic" vibe and I was right on. I also felt ver little sympathy for the characters…Camille almost got some sympathy until her late-night activities. The worst for me, though, was the ending. I'm not squeamish, but those images are some that cannot be unseen. Yuck.
Like the more recent "Gone Girl," "Sharp Objects" is fascinating and I was hardly able to put it down. The plot-- and characters-- twists and turns in completely unexpected ways. I don't usually go for scary/suspenseful reads, but this walked the suspense line nicely.
