how can life go on for Hiroshima survivors?

In Volume 3 of this 10 volume series, Gen and his mother are trying to find a place to live. At every turn, they find people who are terrified of being 'infected' by the A-bomb survivors, and thus unwilling to help. (Not to mention, pretty much everyone in the country was starving and living in privation because of the war.) Gen is amazingly strong, given the circumstances.
AADL only owns volumes 1 to 4, but the others can be requested through MEL.
