COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Great focus on interracial community in Michigan submitted by ecria7 on August 22, 2008, 4:45pm Ms. Cox's book is a great work for anyone writing about the issue or interested in reading about interracial communities in Michigan in the Postbellum period. While her book focuses on the town of Covert, Michigan, the book is a quality example of a theme that spread to its surrounding West Michigan communities. It is a great example to highlight trends in the census for West Michigan in 1880 and 1890 if anyone happens to be working in such a subject area.
