Fondly in Focus submitted by whoisdonald on July 10, 2013, 8:14am Filmmaker Judy Irving skillfully focuses her lens on the colorful wild parrots of San Francisco and a colorful character, Mark Bittner, who serves as our tour guide to this unusual flock. The film is more than an examination of nature, but rather, goes into deeper philosophical territory with Mark's reflections on life, death and the relationships of birds and humans to themselves and each other. The tone of the film dips into sentimentality at points, but the skill and care Irving puts into capturing her subjects so lovingly, makes this a rare documentary that enables us to engage ourselves so emotionally.
