A Bit Stuffy, Even for a British Mystery submitted by Sara W on August 26, 2011, 7:39pm I first saw this Agatha Christie adapted for the Geraldine McEwen Marple series that came out in 2005. Joan Hickson was a very staid, reserved Marple, when I expected a little more spark, if not warmth.

The mystery itself is a pretty good one, some good, misleading clues and clever inferences by good old judge of character Miss Marple, but I didn't find the characters very attractive, so it didn't really hold my interest. The Geraldine McEwen Marple, found here: http://www.aadl.org/catalog/record/1252441, is a much more interesting adaptation.

Joan Hickson is the Best Marple submitted by kathscot on June 17, 2013, 8:51am It's not the wham/bam American pace, but a great series. Miss Marple seems so flighty and is always underestimated by others, but all the time she's three steps ahead of anyone else. Misdirection and an abundance of clues shroud the mystery until the end. I'd highly recommend.
