The De Granville Trilogy submitted by adipirro on July 5, 2011, 11:31am I would consider this one of the best books I've ever read! The first in The De Granville Trilogy, this book has the perfect amount of fighting, mystery, and romance.

If this book was one of your favorites then you must make sure to read the next two in the trilogy, " Green Jasper" and "Blaze of Silver." Each and every book holds you in suspense until the ending!

Summary of Blood Red Horse submitted by sophas on June 17, 2013, 3:45pm Summary:
William had always been begging for a big horse - a destrier. When his father finally relents, he ends up falling in love with a little red horse named Hosanna, and he gets him instead of a big bay called Dargent. Hosanna follows a command before you give it and is agile and fast. Soon after, King Richard calls for a crusade into the holy land to take it back from the Muslims. Will, his brother Gavin, and his father, Thomas de Granville, go on the crusade, leaving his adopted sister Ellie behind at the house. Ellie then makes Will promise that he will come back riding over the drawbridge on Hosanna. On their voyage, Gavin seems to be continuously teasing Will, getting drunk, and gambling, while his father worries over him. Eventually, once they land, their father dies. During one battle, a young Muslim boy takes Hosanna and in the act slices off Gavin’s sword arm. After riding Hosanna, the horse teaches Kamil, the Muslim boy, when to kill and when it’s unnecessary. Kamil soon starts thinking that Hosanna will be his forever. Then, the Sultan takes nine horses to the Christians so they can have a fair fight to death battle, and one of those horses is Hosanna. As Will watches the group of horses come their way, he sees a flicker of red -- could it be Hosanna? Yes, the same boy who had taken him now is giving back his reigns. Because both sides now have horses, they have to fight to their death or fight till they have a winner and a loser. King Richard’s horse keeps getting shot from beneath him so he takes another knight’s horse. Eventually, he gets to Hosanna so Will dismounts. While fighting, one of the archers shoots an arrow that goes deep into Hosanna, and Hosanna falls to the ground. Instantly, Kamil, Will, and Gavin rush toward him. After a lot of care from all three, the wound gradually heals and the crusaders who are still alive head for home. As Will and Gavin go home and over the drawbridge, they realized that they have accomplished more than winning battles. They have won back courage in the mist of pain, they have developed a friendship where they depended on each other, and they have learned that God answers prayers.
