Daniel Day Lewis (Number 1) submitted by ekjensen on July 6, 2021, 8:58am Mr Lewis in his first Oscar winning role is a study in angst and fortitude as Christy Brown. The role even visually through our viewers' eyes is exhausting mentally and must have been been physically for DDL. The mother role by Brenda Fricker and the supportive and heart felt support of the siblings is beautifully portrayed. And although the movie ends with happy marital bliss, the spoiler alert of reading the reality of the relationship in Wikipedia is shocking.

Did not see it when it premiered, but now on DVD> submitted by Tassos on December 3, 2022, 5:51pm good movie, DDL does great job as the lead actor, others OK too.

DDL's role however would get an Oscar even if another good actor played it. It's more the role and not so the actor.
