Fun adventure!
submitted by crazypockets on February 5, 2012, 3:02pm
This book is a fantastic read. Not only is it a fun adventure that children will enjoy, It doesn't talk down to them. Two children run away from home and hide out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. While there, they discover a mystery of one of the museum's recent acquisitions and set out to solve it.
Beyond just a great book, the book on CD is wonderful. The reader is phenomenal with her voices and accents, and a bonus is that she seems to actually understand the sentences she's reading (something that a lot of readers apparently tend to find challenging). Adults as well as children will love this story, especially as read by Jan Miner.
Love it submitted by bluepapaya on June 14, 2014, 5:00pm I love this book. It is well written and great for kids ages 10-12.
Goofy! submitted by Hades on June 22, 2015, 8:47pm I think this was a fun book to read. I would recommend this to a friend. I thought it was very interesting.
you'll enjoy the narrator as well as the story

We listened to this BOCD on a recent trip up north, and it was a big hit with all (two parents, boys aged 15 & 12). It is interesting to observe the relationship between Claudia and Jamie - their personalities are so different, yet they're able to appreciate those differences and work together. It also offers a few life lessons about enjoying the mysterious and unknown. (Plus who hasn't looked at a fountain full of coins and thought about funding their next meal?)
The narrator is really good. For the most part she is able to give distinct voices to all the characters, although there were a few times that lines seemed to come out in the wrong voice, but not enough to distract from the story.
