A Gay Quaker submitted by Jen Chapin-Smith on August 5, 2013, 6:35pm Many people do not know that James Dean was gay and a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers). He was not out during his lifetime, except for telling the military he was gay in order to avoid the draft.
