COMMUNITY REVIEWS

An old movie but a stunning story submitted by ccrose on August 27, 2019, 11:03am When you see a movie at just the right age to take in its truth, you remember it well. A young Englishman goes to Crete and is caught up in the harsh rules of another culture. Anthony Quinn plays Zorba, an expansive wise fellow who encourages the young man to live exuberantly. It was perhaps my first foreign film, classically in black and white. Lila Kedrova, in her last film, responds to Zorba’s kind, joyful spirit days before she dies. Good for teens who have never seen a movie so immersive.
